Abstract

|
|
Acute lung injury (ALI) occurs in 20?25% of the patients with isolated brain injury and is associated with a poor neurological outcome. Patients with ALI admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) often develop neuropsychological changes, as do patients recovering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). This implies that there are close interactions between the brain and lung.
